Echostage called it the Grand Reopening, the first show held at the D.C. EDM venue since COVID began. But for Nigal and Alexa, that night would go down as a much different kind of premiere - the premiere of their love story.
Both Nigal and Alexa attended the show with different groups containing mutual friends. The two groups met up in line where "Nigel" and Alexa briefly met, only to enter the sold out venue and not cross paths the rest of the night. Nigal must have made an impression in those few minutes, because the next day, Alexa leveraged her network of mutual friends to hunt down "that cute guy Nigel's" phone number.
They proceeded to go on a dinner date that turned into a bar crawl through Navy Yard and ultimately ended at Mission (for our Michigan State guests, think Rick's). Very on brand for both. After that, the two were inseparable, attending multiple EDM shows per week to grow their relationship through their mutual love of music - and to impress each other. To both of their relief, that phase of repeat 3am nights ended quickly!
It seemed nothing could go wrong, until Alexa found out she had been calling this man the wrong name for weeks. In Alexa's defense, he had introduced himself as "Nigel" (as he does with people he doesn't foresee meeting again) then chose to never correct her after that. Thankfully the two overcame their first tiff, and the rest is history!
Through their combined love of attending EDM shows and sharing new music, trying D.C.'s most acclaimed restaurants, traveling to new places, and above all, having a great time, Nigal and Alexa have become each other's go-to people, navigating life hand in hand. They have adopted each other's sports loyalties, with Nigal attending (very cold) Michigan State football games at Spartan Stadium with Alexa's family, and Alexa joining Nigal to watch (very early) morning Arsenal games each weekend. They both encourage each other to get their booties to F45 every morning, even when it's the last thing they want to do. Alexa embraced Nigal's Indian culture, and Nigal embraced Alexa's cat Peanut.
Whether they're traveling internationally or just having mimosas on a lazy Saturday morning, nothing makes Nigal and Alexa happier than simply being together. They are beyond excited to embark on this next shared phase of life.
